A purse is defined as a small money container that is typically used by women and includes a compartment for keeping money. The word purse was originally derived from the Latin word "bursa" which means ox hide.
Ladies purses and men wallets have taken on many looks over a period of time. Early Egyptians used to wear pouches that were worn around the waist. During early 14th century, only women used to have purses that were attached to their girdle. Men started keeping wallets by the middle of 15 century in many parts of Europe. These purses and handbags were typically ornamented or embroidered with gold. It was customary for men then to present their new brides with a purse that had an illustration of a love story embroidered on it. In Africa, wizards used to carry unadorned bags in which they would keep a powder that was used to interact with the supernaturals.
People started calling their hand-held bags as handbags by the start of twentieth century. During 1920s, purses were made that had complicated fasteners, internal compartment and locks. It was then common for women to carry a doll dressed exactly like them as a handbag. The new fashion of upper class women also changed during the period. Women started carrying purses that did not match with their outfits. During World War II, women purses were made of wool as metal was saved for War supplies by the governments of the day.
Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Hermes are the leading manufactures of ladies purses and men wallets around the world. A number of variations of the purses are also available in the markets around the world. Some of the popular variations of purses include totes, pocketbooks, security bags and coin purses. 1st day of school... I am wearing medium rise ,cute, flare out jeans and a nuetral-like combination of purple mainly, light brown mixed in baby doll type tank with grey thick straps and a light blue bow in the middle of the chest... It's cute buuuuuuuuutttttt...What shoes should I wear with this to tie it all together. I'm looking towards flats, but what kind. I hope this is a good description for u guys : ) please HELP!!!
